Removable Braces

A removable appliance is used to move teeth into a better relationship using gentle forces. They can tip the crowns of the teeth but do not so much change the position of the roots. They are used in combination with springs, screws and bite-planes to help with mild cases of cross bites, reduction of deep overbites and alignment of mild crowding.

At 128 Harley Street Dental Suite, these type of appliances are used as an interceptive measure in younger patients or as an adjunct to fixed appliances.

Invisalign is a removable appliance, it consists of a series of clear aligners to tip the crowns of the teeth only into better alignment.

A Hawley retainer is very similar to a removable appliance and is used after the removal of a fixed appliance. It is a passive appliance so does not have springs or screws and is worn to hold the teeth in their new position. The retainer must be worn to help prevent the teeth from falling back to their original position.
